VACCINE PROTOCOL FOR CATS

Kittens should be started on their kitten series of vaccinations at 9 weeks of age. Vaccines for the kitten series are:

FVR-CP #1, FELV #1 AND DEWORM -- 9 WEEKS OF AGE

FVR-CP #2, FELV #2 AND DEWORM -- 12 WEEKS OF AGE

FVR-CP #3 AND RABIES 1 YEAR -- 16 WEEKS OF AGE

Cats over 1 year of age or adult cats with an unknown vaccine history should be given the first two vaccines of the kitten series. This can complete the series for the mature cats and they can start annual vaccines which are:

FVR-CP

FELV

RABIES 3 YEAR

It is recommended that all cats and kittens are tested for Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV- feline AIDS) before starting a vaccine series. If unable to pretest, then vaccines should still be given and the testing encouraged at every opportunity.

Revolution applied monthly year round is recommended on all cats (even indoor only ones -- Indoor Cats are at a lower risk for parasites, but not at no risk)
